vacancy

i rode around berkeley yesterday afternoon and again today for several hours on my mountain bike. it was pretty beautiful out, and pedaling around seemed like a good way to clear the cobwebs out and deal with general feelings of restlessness. today i cruised around downtown for a while. there are a LOT of vacant commercial properties around. actually there are a lot of vacant residential rentals as well, and it seems a little early for the seasonal exodus of students.
not really sure what this means, if anything.
